Womens and Girls Cricket
The South Essex District Cricket Board currently has a number of clubs with womens and girls sections. In February and March 2011 we delivered a successful indoor coaching programme at the Grays School Media Arts College and this was followed by a womens’ indoor six a side cricket competition, which was held at the same venue.

The girls’ and womens’ cricket coaching – as well as the indoor six a side cricket competition – were fully funded by grant aid from the Essex Community Foundation and consequently we were able to offer these activities completely free of charge. One teenage player, in her last year at school, having played indoor cricket for the first time, was heard to remark: “That was so much fun – the best evening I have ever had”.
In the near future, we are hoping to be able list all our womens and girls teams and provide a dedicated webpage for each; so please “watch this space” for further news. Therefore, over the coming weeks we hope to be able to raise the profile of womens’ cricket in South Essex still further.
