Orsett A were crowned champions of the SEDCB U12 Indoor, in a week
of truly exciting cricket that witnessed 2 hat-tricks. The first
game of the evening saw Horndon on the Hill take on Basildon &
Pitsea, and with Horndon on the Hill batting first we saw Danial
Stone score 27, Luke Smith score 24 and Alfie Smith score 17 in a
fine total 88 for 3. Basildon & Pitsea took the game to the very
last over with Connor top scoring with 31 runs, some excellent
fielding by Horndon on the Hill in the last few balls of the game
sealed the win for the village team with Basildon & Pitsea finishing
up 85 all out. Horndon on the Hill won by 3 runs.
Eventual champions Orsett A met Grays & Chadwell in the second match
of the evening with Grays & Chadwell opening up with the bat. In
form Orsett A restricted the Grays side to 37 runs from 8.5 overs
with Charlie Hodge top scoring with 13 runs and undoubtedly the best
bowler for Orsett A being Jack Plom who recorded the first hat-trick
of the night. Orsett A polished off the Grays & Chadwell score in
5.1 overs with Thomas Haden scoring 16 runs and Jamie Mumford
scoring 10 in a total of 39 for 0. Orsett A won by 6 wickets.
In the final game of the U12 tournament Orsett B faced Belhus.
Belhus batted first and put on 97 for 5 with Matthew Lewis scoring
25 runs, Donovan Wright scoring 20 runs and Andrew Williams 17 not
out in an innings that saw Regan take the second hat-trick of the
night. Orsett B in response finished up on 66 all out with the pick
of the batsmen being Will scoring 19 runs. The best bowlers for
Belhus were Matt Williams and Andrew Williams finishing up on the
same figures, taking 2 wickets for just 4 runs. Belhus won by 31
runs.
