Orsett, Rayleigh and Belhus are our Indoor Youth Champions

It has been a record-breaking season for the South Essex District Cricket Board’s indoor youth six a side cricket tournaments at Grays School. The U14 event for 2009-2010 took place with the highest ever number of teams – ten in all – as the competition was due to start in November 2009 and end in March 2010. However, with the host facility occasionally closed due to the bad Winter weather, then with travel disruption caused by the ash cloud from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano, which stranded several of our players – and their families – abroad, further delays to the fixture schedule were encountered to the extent that the U14 competition was not won until 28th June – when Orsett and Rayleigh finally met.

Rayleigh achieved victory over Orsett to claim the U14 title with a 100% win record, with Belhus runners-up. Orsett, who could have won the title with a maximum points victory in June, finished third. In the U16s, played in the Spring of 2010, the title winners were Belhus, again with a 100% win record. Orsett, despite narrowly missing out on being U14 winners, scooped the U12 prize.  Please see the indoor youth pages on this website for a full resume of results and the final tables.

The South Essex District Cricket Board would like to thank all the members of its umpires’ panel, all competiting clubs and also the Thurrock area Indoor Competitions Secretary, Darren Frampton, for his administration services throughout the extended indoor youth season.
