Belhus CC are our U16 (West) Indoor Champions

Belhus CC U16 West Indoor Champions 2012-2013Belhus CC (pictured) have become our U16 indoor champions in the west of our region for the second consecutive campaign. Belhus remained undefeated, winning all of their six matches at The Grays School Media Arts College.

The North Stifford based club achieved their title with one game to spare, but in their final match, when they met Orsett, Belhus made it a clean sweep of matches in the event – but only just.

Belhus scored 73 for the loss of four wickets and they had twelve year old starlet Zak Wilson to thank as he top scored with 16 runs in an innings which included one six. Mathew Lewis finished on 14 not out while Jack Martin-Hussey was unbeaten with eleven. For Orsett, Jack Plom claimed 2-14 and George Smith picked up 1-10. When Orsett replied, Harry Lockyer made a valiant effort to overcome the Belhus total with a fine 28 not out. But Belhus held their nerve as Jake Wolfe grabbed two wickets at a cost of just three runs and Lewis ended with 1-16 from three overs. Orsett were left to settle their score on 70 for the loss of three wickets.

The Management Committee of the South Essex District Cricket Board would like to thank all team managers, umpires and scorers for their excellent co-operation over all 25 weeks of competition at Grays School, which had a 100% completion rate. Indoor youth cricket will resume at Grays School at U12 level, with a provisional start date of Friday 4th October.
